Gastroenterology

The department of internal medicine performs diagnoses and treatments to esophagus, gastrointestinal, hepato and biliary diseases. For esophagus diseases, the department treats esophagus malfunction, reflux esophagitis and esophagus cancer. Gastrointestinal diseases include functional gastrointestinal disorder, gastritis, gastroduodenitis, early stage stomach cancer, progressive stomach cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, infectious diarrhea, small intestine cancer and colorectal cancer. In cooperation with the Hepato-Biliary-Pancreas Center, the department performs treatments for hepatitis, hepatocirrhosis, liver cancer, pancreatitis, hepato calculus, biliary calculus and biliary tract cancer. Other checkups include esophageal pressure measurement, 24 hour pH testing, various endoscope examinations (gastroscope, conscious sedation endoscope, bile endoscope, and colonoscopy) and endoscope treatment (endoscope polypectomy, demucosation, endoscope hemostasis, alien substance removal, and stent cannulation). Through the years of experiences, the hospital's digestive clinic has been generating great progress with diagnosing early stage stomach cancer and continuous research to identify new curcumin for cancer prevention.
